Campo de Golf Desert Spring

Situated between the Cuevas del Almanzora reservoir and the town of Villaricos and with easy access from the airports of Almería (40 mins.), Murcia (1 hour 30 mins.) and Alicante (1 hour 50 mins.), Desert Springs is fast becoming the new golfing sensation in Spain.

The Valley of Almanzora is blessed with the warmest and sunniest winter climate in the whole of Spain and has the only real desert in Europe. The Indiana course, the first of the two which make up the complex, was actually built in the desert. Its designer was Peter McEvoy, former British, European and world amateur golfing champion.

The course is maintained in peak condition by an innovative water recycling system,  with the streams which run through the course, a residual water treatment plant and water from the nearby reservoir.

The Indiana course is 6,173 metres long and is par 72. The different tees, the strategically situated bunkers and the carefully placed hazards make this course one of the most challenging for players of all levels.

The fairways are wide and each hole is different making each round here an authentic pleasure. Dry riverbeds, streams, water channels, rocks and a wide variety of cactus plants add to the attraction on a course that is suitable for amateurs and professionals alike, especially when big competitions take place here. The contrast between the areas of play and the rough is especially spectacular. The course was designed according to USGA specifications, and is comparable in quality with the famous Arizona and California desert courses with the added advantage of having the best winter climate in the world and being only 10 minutes from some of the best beaches in Spain.
